DesertSkyMarketing explains downtime
October 21, 2006
As informed the desertskymarketing site is down. They said it will be up in the next 3-5 days and all pendings for Wednesday will be paid out. Check the related update to know the details:
“The DesertSky Marketing server has crashed and my hosting support is telling me the operating system must be re-installed. Also, the hosting did not setup by backups as I requested (making sure they were on a separate volume from the operating system). Another extremely frustrating factor I have to deal with… I was unable to download my weekly off-site backup yesterday and contacted my hosting support. They could never seem to resolve my SSH access issue and then decided to reboot the server, it never came back up. This means I will have to restore from my last off-site backup.
Let me answer the question that is currently in the mind of every member: What does this mean for payouts tomorrow? They will still be paid on schedule. I have my script setup to email me every member’s cashout request and I will use those hard copies to pay everyone tomorrow as scheduled.
Restoration process:
1. The server should be re-installed by tomorrow and the host will show me verification that it has been setup per my instructions.
2. I will then restore from my last off-site backup and then update the database with upgrades and cashouts. Members will not be able to login while I am updating the database.
3. Once everything has been restored and updated we will allow members to login.
Foreseeable problems:
1. Members who joined and upgraded after the last off-site backup will not be in the database. However, I have records of all upgrades, so this will only be a minor issue and easily fixed.
2. Members who joined, but did NOT upgrade after the last off-site backup will not be in the database. The easiest fix is for them to sign up again since they have no upgrades/earnings.
This entire process could take 3-5 days.
Until the server is restored, my email (admin@desertskymarketing.net) will not be available. However, it should be back up tomorrow. I will also place a “Down for Maintenance” page on the server when it has been re-installed so you will know where we are in the process.
Please only email me if it is really important. I would rather spend my time getting everything restored, rather than answering emails.

Ibiza Traders changing brokers
October 21, 2006
From Ibiza Traders, Peter is here with an update:
“It has been a while since my last update. Actually there isnt that much to tell. We still grow everyday, by memberships and deposits, We are very happy about that. Second is that by month end we will change our currency broker for a Swiss Investment bank firm.
We hope to get an even better service there as well as some more personal attention which most online brokers lack. We feel this will give us an edge. So we try to become better all the time and are very picky with whom we want to do business and whom not. I feel this is in all of our best interest. We are very busy trading the markets and working long days. Am still happy with 6 hours sleep a day if I get there lol.
I will keep you updated about any other news with respect to Ibiza traders as soon as due.
Thank you for your attention and kind regards

KAonline is getting DDOSsed
October 21, 2006
KA Online informed via Talk Gold forum that again they’re having another DDOS attacks:
“Due to the size of this latest attack our server techs have set the routers that lead to our server to a very low traffic setting, this means that some “real” traffic may be blocked.
This is a temp. move as the bulk of the attack is filtered.
The site may be accessible to some users for the next 12 to 24 hours.
We are working, as usual, on getting the site back up.
All the data on the server is backed up and there is no need to panic.
The CPW return for this week will be paid out as soon as the site is stable.

What Dustin from DesertSkyMarketing said about the downtime
October 21, 2006
DesertSkyMarketing is down for technical reasons at the time BUT don’t you worry, you’ll not lose credits
and for now read the latest update:
“A member of DesertSky Marketing has purchased the web domain “desertskymarketing.COM” and they have placed the real site within a frame on their site. This makes it look like the dot COM address is the real DesertSkyMarketing.NET web site.
If you login via the dot COM site, you will get errors when trying to upgrade, you will not see any web sites when you try to surf, and you will have trouble making raffle ticket and DSM Store purchases.
If you have logged into your account using the dot COM web address, you have nothing to worry about.
The real site, which you logged into, was simply contained within a frame on the “rogue” site.
Bottom line –> Make sure you use this address to access your account: http://www.desertskymarketing.NET
I’ve contacted the member who has done this, but they refuse to remove our site from within their frame. I have suspended this members account and removed all his referrals.
Thanks!
Dustin
